Cronica S-25 Super-8 redesign

In the course ‘Design Theory and History’ we were introduced to different design philosophies, and throughout the course we redesigned a few industrial products with these philosophies in mind. For the exam project we had to choose from a wide range of classic products, like a 1965 BEOLIT 800 radio, 1960 Olivetti Valentine typewriter, and more. I chose a 1960′s Cronica S-25 Super-8 camera.

The original design was heavily inspired by Bauhaus and Ulm designs, and I took up the challenge to redesign the camera in an American Streamline style, inspired by design pioneer Raymond Loewy. See the inspiration posters in the gallery.
