Random Hacks of Kindness (3rd runner-up)

In the winter of 2010 I attended Random Hacks of Kindness (RHoK) in Aarhus, which was the first in Denmark. RHoK is ‘hack-a-thons’ held globally through weekends, with a main mission to make the world a better place through a global community of innovation developing practical open technology.

These events presents cases that are available to work on through-out the weekend, where teams form and compete in a friendly manner.

I chose to work on the project presented by Red Cross Denmark: “Mapping“. The mission was to increase the coordination of data collection/distribution in the field in order to avoid duplication of efforts and ensure a timely, efficient and adequate response to people in need.

Watch the video below for a quick review of the concept we designed. Our contribution made it to third place, and we won a lot of Ubuntu ‘Open Source’ Cola :)

Go to RHoK.org for more information on the organisation, and future events.

Team

The team consisted of Frederik Larsen, Akosta, Nis Bjørn Jensen and myself.
